PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head where electromagnetic transducing characteristics do not deteriorate and adverse effects due to pseudo gaps can also be prevented, even when a groove part for preventing an unwanted leakage magnetic field is provided on the sliding surface of the magnetic head. SOLUTION: The magnetic head 100 has the sliding surface 120 on which a magnetic recording medium slides, a magnetic gap (g) formed on the sliding surface and the groove part 150 for preventing the unwanted leakage magnetic field at one end part of the magnetic gap. The magnetic gap is formed by butting a first and a second magnetic films 131 and 132 formed on a surface which is not parallel to the magnetic gap via a gap material, and first and second magnetic films are disposed nearly in a truncated chevron shape toward the other end part side of the magnetic gap.
