<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use only a virtically oblong area of a display screen as a display area, and also to lower power consumption. SOLUTION: When pixels belonging to a specific data line of plural data lines are brought into display state, and pixels belonging to the other data lines are brought into non-display state, one of plural scanning lines is selected for each horizontal scanning period, and further a selected voltage is applied to the selected scanning line for a latter half period of the selected scanning line divided in two, and also the polarity of the selected voltage is inverted every two or more horizontal periods by using the midium value of the voltage to be applied to the data line as reference, on the other hand, to the data lines other than the specific data line, the polarity of the non-lighting voltage is inverted according to the polarity of the selected voltage to be applied to the selected scanning line, and also every two or more horizontal scanning periods corresponding to a polarity inversion cycle of the selected voltage.</p> |
