PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manage an image for title by a directory different from that of a photographed image. SOLUTION: A generation prohibited directory counter value and a directory counter initiation value are stored in a ROM 28. A controller 28 generates a new directory name from a directory counter. The controller 28 further makes the directory counter incremental and generates a directory not to coincide with the generation prohibited directory when a new directory name coincides with a name of the generation prohibited directory when the new directory is generated.
