PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assure accurate display adjustment at a display device when it is turned on or at switching of video signal inputted into the display device. SOLUTION: The video signal outputted from a computer 2 is supplied to a monitor 1 through a video cable 3. The monitor 1 is connected to the computer system 2 using a communication cable 4. If the monitor 1 detects that the signal format of the video signal outputted from the computer system 2 changes, the monitor 1 demands, to the computer system 2, outputting of a display adjustment video signal through the communication cable 4. Based on the demand, the computer system 2 outputs such adjustment video signal as each upper and lower end line in an active section is a white line. At the monitor 1, the adjustment video signal is used for automatic display adjustment such as dot clock phase, display position and the like. Operation at an operation part 16 may perform similar process, the display adjustment for the monitor 1 is performed with a simple operation.
