PURPOSE: A PDP-TV system and a communication method thereof are provided to control even a digital set-top box as well as an analog set-top box so that viewers can watch HDTV broadcasting programs. CONSTITUTION: A PDP TV system is constructed in a manner that an analog set-top box(100) or a digital set-top box transmits/receives data to/from a PDP monitor(200). The PDP monitor and the analog or digital set-top box respectively have input/output extension devices(300,400). The PDP TV system further includes the first port(500) for confirming if the PDP monitor and the analog set-top box are connected with each other or not, and the second port(600) for confirming if the PDP monitor and the digital set-top box are connected with each other or not.
