PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a removable hard disk drive device which operates by being combined with an optical disk drive device having a slot to which an optical disk cartridge is insertable. SOLUTION: The removable hard disk drive device houses a magnetic disk (hard disk) 31, has an external form to allow the insertion into the optical disk drive device through the slot and has a magnetic head 32 which records data to the magnetic disk and reproduces the data from the magnetic disk in the state of inserting the hard disk drive device 3 through the slot into the optical disk drive device and a transduction section which transduces the optical signals from an optical hard for data recording and reproducing of the optical disk drive device to electric signals, applies these signals to the magnetic head 32, transducer the electric signals from the magnetic head 32 into the optical signals and applies these signals to the optical head for data recording and reproducing of the optical disk drive device.
