PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the whole length of a cathode-ray tube and reduce raster distortion for a color picture tube that its outer surface of panel is approximately flat and that its inner surface of the panel and its shadow mask have a curvature. SOLUTION: The outer surface of the panel of this color cathode-ray tube is flat and its inner surface is curved for forming an effective area of picture to display an image on the inner surface. Where a glass thickness at the center of the panel is Tc, a glass wall thickness at a diagonal effective diameter end Td and half of a diagonal effective diameter D, (Td-Tc)/D<=7.5% should be given and the maximum deflection angle is between 96 deg. and 99 deg..
