PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring system using a telephone line which may not defunctionalize the system even when a disaster, etc., occurs in the installed area of the system and, consequently, telephone traffic is concentrated in the area. SOLUTION: The monitoring system is constituted of first terminal devices 11 installed to customers, an N-th terminal device 12, a center device 13 which collects supervisory information, a pager base station 14, and a telephone network 4. Each of the first and N-th terminal devices 11 and 12 is provided with a sensor 5 which monitors an object to be monitored, a CPU 15 which controls the terminal devices 11 and 12 by generating supervisory data, a MODEM 7, and a pager receiving section 16 which receives message from the center device 13 through a pager. The center device 13 is provided with a MODEM 17, a CPU 18 which controls the center device 13 by processing the supervisory data, a pager message generating section 19 which generates messages when a disaster, etc., occurs, and a displaying section 10 which displays the supervisory data. |
