PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording medium, a method and device for recording data, a method and device for reproducing data, a method and device for recording and reproducing data, a method and device for transmitting data, a method and device for receiving data, and contents data, by which copy management, reproduction management and charging management can be easily performed over a plurality of generations. SOLUTION: Copy management information SCM-P for a read-out exclusive recording medium and a copy management information SCMS-R for recordable recording medium are simultaneously recorded in the recording medium. Then, the recording medium to be reproduced is judged and copying is managed through the use of copy management information SCM-P or SCMS-R in accordance with the recording medium to be reproduced. Besides, recorded original kind information and copy management information are recorded in the recording medium. Then, original kind information is compared with the kind of the actual recording medium to judge whether original or not. When data are not the original, since they are considered that at least one generation of copying is performed, copy management information is considered to be progressed by one generation and, then, copying is managed. Thus, the generation of copying is managed even if copy management information is not re-written.
