PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic memory devicel in which data writing/reading are conducted for magnetic memory cells that include plural magnetic layers and a method for reading data in the device by which the recording density of the memory cells is improved and the power consumption is reduced. SOLUTION: Each of magnetic memory cells 2 is formed by laminating at least three magnetic layers. Plural magnetic memory cells are arranged along the crossing points of plural first lines and plural second lines which cross the first lines. The data writing is conducted for a specific magnetic memory cell by letting current to flow selectively in the first and the second lines in order to control the directions of the magnetic moments of second and third magnetic layers. Each of the first lines is made up with at least two word lines. Each of the two word lines individually controls the direction of the magnetic moment of any one of the first or the second or the third magnetic layers so that a specific magnetic memory cell stores data having equal to or more than two values.
