PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording disk drive device, a navigation device and a method for controlling the navigation device, of which power consumption can be saved and also heat generation is suppressed. SOLUTION: In the navigation system, an area to move till a prescribed time is predicted based on a present position, a vehicle speed, a progress direction and road kinds during traveling, etc., the power source of a disk drive is made to an off state by a power source switch part when map data in a predicted area are stored in a map data memory and the power source of the disk drive for driving a recording disk is made to be an off state after map data is read from the recording disk and stored in the map data memory when the map data in the predicted area are not stored in the map data memory. |
