PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid-crystal display device for an optimum gradation control with a picture data by providing a gradation control register to a data driver where a liquid-crystal controller can be set using a data bus, for controlling a gradation voltage generating circuit. SOLUTION: The data driver is provided with the gradation control register, and a reference voltage is generated in the data driver from an inputted reference voltage. The reference voltage is selected according to the setting of the gradation control register, for controlling a gradation voltage. The gradation control register is set from the liquid-crystal controller using the data bus for transmitting a display data, for controlling gradation from the liquid-crystal controller according to the picture data.
