PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system for a portable unit that can simplify preparatory operations for data communication and easily transfer data even when the portable unit is connected to an unspecified personal computer. SOLUTION: The communication system is provided with a mobile unit 11, a personal computer 13, and an interface adaptor 27 that attains data communication between the portable unit 11 and the personal computer 13. A file system emulate section 22 of the mobile unit 11 allows the personal computer 13 to see data stored in the storage section 21 as if the data were managed in a formed applied to a disk recognized by the personal computer 13. Thus, the interface adaptor 23 acts like an external storage device available of disk replacement and the portable unit 11 acts like a disk of the external storage device so as to access data in the storage section 21 of the mobile unit 11 so as to allow the personal computer 13 to read/write the data to/from the external storage device.
