PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal unique to a user in which the characteristics of a program described in a platform independent programming language are utilized. SOLUTION: The portable terminal is provided with: a power supply voltage detecting part 10 to detect the state change of the terminal; a nonvolatile memory 4 which is rewritable and stores an independent program described in the platform independent programming language; a CPU 1 to start an incorporated program, to detect the state change with the power supply voltage detecting part 10 and to start the independent program when the state change is detected; and a sound production part 8 and a display part 9 to perform required output on the basis of the startup of the independent program by the CPU 1.
