PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile serer that can prevent the data whose destination is designated from staying too much in its own storage means causing adverse effects to other jobs which use the storage means without increasing the capacity of the storage means. SOLUTION: An external storage device is connected to the facsimile server via a communication network N1. In the case of fax-receiving data whose destination client is designated and storing the fax-receiving data in its own storage means 11, when an idle area of the storage means 11 is deficient, the facsimile server does not store the fax-receiving data in the storage means 11 but transmits the data via the communication network N1 to the external storage device, where the data are stored.
