PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic impedance effect element having means for imparting a sufficient bias field in which fixing work to a nonmagnetic substrate can be simplified. SOLUTION: The magnetic impedance effect element comprises a nonmagnetic substrate 2, a magnetic thin film 3 formed on the nonmagnetic substrate 2, and means for imparting a bias field to the magnetic thin film 3 wherein the bias field imparting means comprises a permanent magnet 4 composed of a hard magnetic bulk material. The bias field imparting means is bonded to the nonmagnetic substrate 2 and a variation of impedance generated in the magnetic thin film 3 through an external field by supplying a current to the magnetic thin film 3 is converted into an electric signal and outputted.
