PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost power unit of superior controllability, having little loss and a high power factor, capable of conducting countermeasures on harmonics. SOLUTION: The unit consists of a rectifier bridge B1 that rectifies an AC power AC, FETs Q1, Q2 that convert a rectified output to a high-frequency power, inductors L1, L2 that are provided with the high-frequency power, inductors L3, L4 that are coupled magnetically with the inductors L1, L2, diodes D1, D2 that rectify an induced voltage of the inductors L3, L4, a choke coil L5, that smoothes the rectified output and a load 4 that is connected to the choke coil L5. The unit also comprises an output-detecting circuit 3, that detects the output information of the load 4, and a FET-control circuit 1a, a frequency- control circuit 1b and a PWM-control circuit 1c, that constitute a switching control means that controls switching operations of the FETs Q1, Q2 so as to make the output amount fed to the load 4 reach the target amount, and controls the peak of the output fed to the load 4.
