PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video disk player attaining a pleasant and smooth operation with an enhanced technology that reproduces a video image recorded on a recording medium onto a display screen and especially informs a user about the propriety of acceptance of a button by means of display on the screen or the like so as to prevent a useless button operation. SOLUTION: An operation propriety decision section 3 decides the propriety for each operation based on operation information from a reproduction section P. A propriety display control section 4 displays the propriety of each operation decided by the operation propriety decision section 3 through an OSD section 18 on the display screen.
