PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a keyword including an external character retrievable while eliminating the need to manage the external character registration states of individual clients. SOLUTION: When document data to be managed include an external character, a client-side device obtains the feature quantity of the external character (S201, S202, and S203). When a server is requested to register the document data, the obtained feature quantity is sent to the server together with the document data (S204). A server-side device once receiving the document data (S211) checks whether a feature quantity is added to the document data, selects an external character close to the feature quantity as an alternative external character (S212, S213, S214) when the feature quantity is added, and registers the alternative external character (S214) together with the received document data and feature quantity. |
