PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method and an image processing unit that can enhance the quality of image display in each format of multi- format data broadcast images. SOLUTION: The image processing method separates menu data D1, character data D2, still picture data D3, and moving picture data D4 with a plurality of formats from broadcast video signals S1, S2. The image signal of the data with each format is superimposed on the data with a plurality of the formats to generate each layer image signal S3. An adaptive image processing section 10 adaptively applies the image processing to each superimposed layer image signal S3 according to the preset parameter for each layer image signal S3. A different image processing is applied from each layer independently of the signal kind and the signal format to apply image processing of the signal adaptively to each format. |
