PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide sufficient mechanical strength in a shadow mask for a color picture tube having a nearly flat outer surface and curvatures on a panel inner surface and the shadow mask. SOLUTION: In this color picture have having a flat outer surface, an electron gun is disposed in-line, and a phosphor on a fluorescent screen is delta-disposed in the vertical direction so that a shadow mask horizontal pitch can be varied in Y-axis direction, and the shadow mask curvature is increased more than the inner surface curvature in a screen vertical axis direction to increase the mechanical strength of the shadow mask.
