ELECTROLUMNESCENT HIGH PRESSURE LAMINATE

PURPOSE: An electroluminescent high pressure laminate is provided to provide a decorative laminate offering a novel visual experience to consumers by adding an electroluminescent compound to the laminate. CONSTITUTION: A laminate(10) comprises at least a first resin impregnated sheet(16) having an electroluminescent compound dispersed therein and electrical leads coupling the electroluminescent compound to a source of electrical energy, and a decorative layer(18) over which the first resin impregnated sheet lies. The resin is impregnated with the decorative layer. The decorative layer includes a printed design coordinated with the electroluminescent compound of the first resin impregnated sheet, core layer(20) over which the decorative layer, and the first resin impregnated sheet lie. The core layer includes conductive leads for attachment to a power source. The core layer is electrically coupled to the first resin impregnated sheet.
