<p>The invention concerns a device for controlling (1) an identity document (10) or the like, such as an identity card, said document comprising at least a transponder and a code (17). Said control device is characterised in that it comprises a radio-frequency element (3) for, at the time of identity control, reading and optionally programming the transponder (11), and at least a code reader (4) adapted to the code type of the document, comprising means for digitising the code and a decoder for processing the digitised data, data management means (2) for comparing the data delivered by the radio-frequency element and the data delivered by the code reader (4), to authenticate and/or verify whether the bearer of the document is the actual holder, the data management means (2) being preferably designed to enable the code reader and the radio-frequency element to operate simultaneously.</p> |
