<p>An air intake apparatus for supplying air to an internal combustion engine (1) comprises a unitary hollow enclosure (50), a motor vehicle battery (16) and an air compressor (10) for compressing air supplied to the engine (1). The enclosure is partly divided by a partition wall (92) into a battery compartment (56) and a compressor compartment (58), access to which is provided by a pair of covers (60,62). The battery compartment (56) houses the battery (16) and the compressor compartment (58) houses the air compressor (10). An engine air supply path (3) leads through the enclosure (50) from an air inlet (52) an air outlet (54). The air supply path (3) extends through the partition wall (92). The battery housing (50) encloses an upstream part of the air supply path (3) and the compressor housing encloses a downstream part of the air supply path (3).</p> |
