Apparatuses and methods for emulating a first code (84) having a plurality of opcodes. A first code (84) is modified into a second code (88), with each portion of the second code (88) corresponding to an opcode of the first code 84 and also corresponding to a respective address of a third code (96). A respective portion of the second code (88) corresponding to an opcode of the first code (84) is read and at least a portion of a routine in the third code (96) at the respective address is executed, the routine operable to perform a similar function to the respective opcode of the first code.
