PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing a hypereutectoid steel for cold elongation is provided to increase ductility by microstructure control. CONSTITUTION: The method for manufacturing a hypereutectoid steel for cold elongation includes step of preparing a billet comprising C 0.85 to 1.1 wt.%, Si 0.1 to 0.3 wt.%, Mn 0.3 to 0.9 wt.%, 0.01 wt.% or less of P, 0.01 wt.% or less of S, a balance of Fe and incidental impurities; hot rolling the billet into wire rod; and continuous-cooling the hot rolled wire rod starting from the temperature range of 800 to 850°C to right above pearlite transformation start temperature at a cooling rate of 21 to 27°C/sec.
