<p>A method of manufacturing a glass fiber preform, comprising the steps of providing the data on the shape of the upper surface (S) of a glass for clad (1), heating the glass for clad (1) so that the viscosity thereof is 10?10 to 1014¿ poise, flowing out a glass for core (2) onto the upper surface of the glass for clad (1) to form a complex glass body, cooling the complex glass body, and removing a part of the upper part thereof, whereby a columnar glass having a volume ratio of the glass for core (2) to the glass for clad (1) calculated based on the shape data in a specified range can be provided.</p> |
