A control device has an actuator rod (9) positioned below the base cap (6) of the reactor pressure vessel (1), coupled to the emergency cooling via a hydraulic transmission system with at least one hydraulic cylinder (7) arranged parallel to the reactor pressure vessel axis. The opposite end of the rod to that coupled to the transmission system is positioned at a distance of ca. 3 cm from the reactor pressure vessel base cap.
