METHOD OF SHOT PEENING PROCESSING AND ARTICLE PROCESSED THEREBY, AND PEENING MATERIAL AND USE THEREOF

A method of shot peening processing, characterized in that use is made of a peening material having a Vickers hardness (Hv) of 900 to 1100 and a Young' modulus of 200,000 Mpa or less is used; and an article which has been processed by the method and has a maximum compression residual stress of 160 Mpa or more and a surface roughness of 5 mu m or less. The method allows the impartation of an enhanced compression residual stress even to a metal material having high hardness with decreased roughing of the surface of the metal material.
