AUTHENTICATION REQUESTING METHOD FOR MAC IN PASSIVE OPTICAL NETWORK

PURPOSE: An authentication requesting method for a MAC in a passive optical network is provided to authenticate a MAC of a passive optical network and read its program by a computer by connecting an OLT(optical line termination) and an ONU(optical network unit) by using a passive optical device and sharing one optical fiber by a plurality of ONUs. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of ONUs determine a period(Tmsms) of a mini slot required for an authentication request to transmits an upward cell to an OLT. A period(Tdsds) of a divided slot and a link over header(COo) are determined by using the determined period of the mini slot. The length of the mini slot is computed according to information to be transmitted to the OLT and a used protocol. An optimum parameter is computed and allocated according to the computed result in order to request an authentication of a MAC protocol between the plurality of ONUs.
