A vehicle body (2) is provided with front wheels (3) and rear wheels (4) so that they can be turned through 90 degrees. The pair of right and left front wheels (3) are attached to swivel members (28) through electric motors (30) for travel drive, the swivel members being installed on the vehicle body (2) for turning around vertical axes (27). The electric motors (30) each have an outer case (31) integrated with the swivel member (28) and a drive shaft (34) adapted, together with a rotor (33), to be freely installed in the outer case (31). The front wheels (3) are operatively connected to the drive shaft (34), and a turning means (50) is installed to turn the swivel member (28). This enables the drive type front wheels (3) to be steered to turn sideways, and the electric motors (30) can be constructed for improved and compact assemblage.
