A brake booster (12) and a method of assembling an output member (206) thereof within a bore (54) of a valve body (50). In this brake booster (12), a reaction disc (200) engages a holder (102) of a reaction transmitting assembly (100) that is connected to a plunger (72) of an input member (80). A guide (400) is attached to a cylindrical head (202) on a shaft (204) of an output member (206) by hoods (4041) on the end of a plurality of legs (404, 404'<...>404<n>) that extend in a first direction from a cylindrical base (402). A plurality of axial leges (406, 406'<...>406<n>) that extend in a second direction from the cylindrical base (402) are connected to a support ring (408) and positioned on a shoulder (51) in the valve body (50) by a return spring (21) such that a series of arcuate tabs (412, 412'<...>412<n>) on the cylindrical base (402) urge a reaction disc (200) retained by the cylindrical head (202) into engagement with the holder (102) connected through a plunger (72) to an input push rod (80). |
