CONCRETE-REINFORCING FIBER

Into a concrete are incorporated, as reinforcing fibers, polyamide monofilaments which have a single-yarn fineness of 300 to 15,000 dtex and a fiber elongation of at least 10% and have modified cross-sections ranging in the degree of flatness from 5/4 to 10/1. The fibers preferably have an average length of 10 to 60 mm and a strength of 3.5 cN/dtex or higher. Forming recesses and protrusions of 0.1 to 0.5 mm on the fiber surface can impart an excellent reinforcing effect. The amount of the fibers to be incorporated is about 0.5 to 2 vol.%. Even when the concrete cracks, the cracks can be prevented from propagating or enlarging.
