When a user having a portable communication terminal (1) makes a request to a service provider (10) for backup service for personal registered information, the service provider (10) requires, on the basis of the previously registered information (6) on the portable communication terminal (1), the portable communication terminal (1) to send the personal registered information. The portable communication terminal (1) that has been required to send the personal registered information sets up a communication line between itself and the service provider and sends the personal registered information. The service provider (10) stores the sent personal registered information on a backup disk (5). Thus, without marring the easiness of daily use of a portable communication terminal, the backup of the personal registered information stored in the portable communication terminal can be readily performed even if the portable communication terminal is lost or stolen.
