The present invention relates to nuclear proteins and nucleic acids encoding those proteins, wherein the proteins bind the regulatory sequences of a gene (SP-10) that is expressed only in sperm cells. The isolated proteins are anticipated to be transcription factors and thus serve as targets for modulating the expression of SP-10 and other temporally and spatially regulated genes.
