The test arrangement is calibrated and detachably connected to a test device or test head for investigating a reference test item (17). The test arrangement has a signal transceiver that processes the signals generated at the reference test item. A test head holder firmly holds the reference test item. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) the reference unit of the test arrangement; (b) the control method of a test head or test device using the ultrasonic test arrangement.
