Gas-injection Roots blower is silenced by gas manifolds which are volumetrically-tuned to damp fundamental acoustic frequency generated by rotors

Each rotor (20, 22) is fed by injection nozzles (34, 36) from a silencer manifold (42, 44) arranged outside the compressor (10) casing (14). Both silencer manifolds are connected downstream of a cold gas supply opening. The volumes of the silencer manifolds are identical and have a fundamental acoustic resonance frequency (fo) matching that set up by the compressor (10) rotors.
