The method involves using a measurement tube (3) secured at both ends (16,l16') so that it is free to vibrate about its center point (Z). Tube deflections resulting from Coriolis forces generated by a mass flow through the tube are recorded by at least one sensor (18,18'). The design ensures that the resonance frequency of the excited vibration can be set independently of the resonance vibration mode of the tube and above the frequencies of external interferences. An Independent claim is included for a device for carrying out the method.
