PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing fibrillation of cellulose fiber without damaging its soft feeling, with a chemical treatment of the surface of the cellulose fiber by crosslinking reaction. SOLUTION: This method for preventing fibrillation of cellulose fiber comprises treating the cellulose fiber with an aqueous solution containing a modifier composition and a reaction promoter; wherein, when the total amount of ethylene glycol mono(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl) ether (component A) and ethylene glycol bis(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl) ether (component B) is nominally 100 wt.%, the modifier composition comprises 5-30 wt.% component A and >=30 wt.% component B, and the reaction promoter comprises an alkali metal compound indicating alkalinity in water and a neutral salt. |
