PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ordered polyurethane which has a specified sequence of its monomer units. SOLUTION: A method of producing the head-tail ordered polyurethane of formula (3) of the x/(x+y) ratio of 0.8-1.0, is obtained by condensation polymerization of a diisocyanate compound of formula (2) with a diol compound in the presence of a distannoxane catalyst, employing a process in which substantially about >1/2 times mole of the diol is reacted.
