PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary damper to prevent leakage of viscous fluid through a gap between the tip surface of a partition wall and the outer periph eral surface of a rotary shaft and prevent reduction of torque due to eccentric rotation of a rotary shaft. SOLUTION: The rotary damper comprises a rotary member 4 having a casing chamber 3 in which a base part 5 is housed, a protrusion member 15 formed in a state to protrude radially externally and an axial direction on an outer peripheral surface 5b of a base part 5 of the rotary member 4 and making slide contact of the inner peripheral surface of a chamber 3 with the inner peripheral surface of a room 3, and a protrusion wall 11 formed that a part of the inner peripheral surface of the chamber 3 protrudes radially internally along an axial direction. The protrusion member 15 and the protrusion wall 11 divide the interior of the chamber 3 into a pressure chamber 3a where a volume is changed and a pressure reduction chamber 3b and interposed between the protrusion wall 11 and a base part 5 of the rotary member 4. A spacer 20 is provided to closely fit to an outer peripheral surface 5b of the base part 5 and the surfaces, extending to a casing radial direction of the protrusion wall 11.
