PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material having high sensitivity and a little fog, capable of giving a high density and excellent in preservability. SOLUTION: The heat developable photosensitive material contains at least one photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent for silver ions and a binder on one face of the base, and further contains at least one compound of formula (I) (where dye1 is a dye: M1 is a counter ion equilibrated with an electric charge; m1 is a number required to neutralize electric charges in each molecule; (q) is an integer of >=1; and R1 is one of R1a to R1d of formulae (a) to (d) (where Ra to Rd are each an alkyl, aryl, a heterocyclic group, alkoxy, aryloxy, heterocyclic oxy or amino; Qa to Qd are each a linking group; and (r) to (u) are each 0 or 1).
