PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuously variable transmission being effective in terms of belt life and allowing a transmission shaft for transmitting torque from a transmission motor to an actuator to be positioned in a radially small space. SOLUTION: In the continuously variable transmission which makes gear ratio continuously variable, a power shaft 4 is disposed in non-coaxial and parallel relationship with a driveshaft 10 and a driven shaft 20, with one end of the power shaft connected to an input shaft 3 and the other end extending from a drive pulley to a portion opposite to an engine and connected to the portion of the driveshaft 10 opposite to the engine via a transmission mechanism 13. A transmission shaft 46 transmitting the driving force of the transmission motor 40 to speed change gears 14d and 22d provided respectively at the drive pulley and a driven pulley is positioned doubly on the inside and outside, on the same axis as the power shaft 4.
