PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing an aromatic polycarbonate resin for molding by a simple process, which contains very small content of chlorine and is resistant to hydrolysis. SOLUTION: The method of producing an aromatic polycarbonate resin for molding comprises treating an aromatic polycarbonate resin containing 10 to 350 ppm of chlorine by kneading and extrusion, in which water of 0.1 to 10 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the aromatic polycarbonate resin is added when kneading so that the contact time of aromatic polycarbonate/water is in the range of 3.5 to 30 seconds, and extruding to obtain an aromatic polycarbonate resin for molding containing chlorine of 5 ppm or less.
