PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which uses a color filter preventing reduction of color purity, improving a utilization factor of light and suppressing an increase in a manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with the color filter having, in the same polymer PM layer, a color converting substance TW(B) which converts part of incident light into light in a specified wavelength region and a filtering substance PG(B) which is a colorant transmitting only the light in a specified wavelength region out of the incident light. The device converts part of the incident light into the light in the specified wavelength region via the color converting substance TW(B) and emits it together with the light transmitted by the filtering substance PG(B). Because the layer having mixed TW(B) and PG(B) is formed in a single step, no additional step is necessary for an existing manufacturing process. |
