PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film scanner with which more efficient image pickup is possible as the film scanner which has a transporting mechanism for transporting photographic films along a sub-scanning direction and an image pickup means having many photodetectors lined up in a main scanning direction in order to pick up the images carried on the photographic films transported by the transporting mechanism and of which transporting mechanism has plural transporting paths displaced from each other in the main scanning direction. SOLUTION: The film scanner is provided with changeover mechanisms 26 and 28 which change over the plural transporting paths 5Av and 5Bv of the improving pickup means 7.
