摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To design simplification of layer structure in a multilayer reflective and semitransmissive liquid crystal display element exhibiting a light-condensing property equal to that of a glass substrate. SOLUTION: By using a metallic mold, a lower resin substrate 22 having a projecting and recessing layer integrated therewith is formed. Aluminum coating is applied to the projecting and recessing surface to provide a reflection layer 8 for diffusion. A flattening layer 16 is provided on the upper surface of the reflection layer 8 and a transparent electrode 4b is formed thereon. On the other hand, a transparent electrode 4a is formed on the lower surface of an upper side transparent resin substrate 20 and a liquid crystal 5 is sealed between the lower resin substrate 22 and the upper side transparent resin substrate 20 with spacers. In this way, a reflection surface for the diffusion and the substrate are integrated.
