PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely clean an image information detecting sensor unit. SOLUTION: As for the image information detecting sensor unit 112 for detecting image information from a toner image transferred from a photoreceptor drum on an intermediate recording medium 111, the sensor unit 112 is provided with a light emitting part for emitting a detecting signal to the toner image, a light receiving part for photoreceiving the detecting signal emitted from the light emitting part and reflected by the toner image so as to obtain the image information, a light transmissive dust protecting cover 114 positioned facing the intermediate transfer medium 111 so as to cover the light emitting part and the light receiving part, and a cleaning member 113 which is moved in a direction orthogonal to the rotating direction of the intermediate recording body 111 while in contact with the surface of the dust protecting cover 114 so as to clean the surface of the dust protecting cover 114.
