PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a span adjusting method, in which large-scale equipment and devices are not required and a structure is simplified and labor is not so required and which can be adopted even at any site. SOLUTION: In the method of installing a structural member, by which a log truss 3 suspended from a traverser 31 by wires 32-34 at five positions arranged on one straight line in the lateral direction is moved to objects to be mounted 1 and 1 and connecting sections (r) and (r) at both ends of the log truss 3 are connected to the objects 1 and 1, the suspension length of either wire 32-34 is changed and the log truss 3 is deflected and both spans D1 and D2 are conformed when the first span D1 between both connecting sections (r) and (r) under a suspended state and the second span D2 between both sections to be connected (f) and (f) of the objects differ.
