PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer in which useless power consumption can be suppressed at an interface section. SOLUTION: Two types of interface, i.e., an IEEE1284 interface and a USB interface, are mounted and any one of them can be used selectively. An I/F control circuit 41 comprises an IEEE1284 module 47 having an IEEE1284 controller 47a and a power supply managing section 47b, a USB module 48 having a USB controller 48a and a power supply managing section 48b, and a voltage detector 49 being connected with an external computer 2 through power supply and earth lines Vcc, GND constituting an interface cable 3 for USB wherein power is not supplied to an interface not connected with the external computer 2.
